You can’t beat Territory Day at Mindil Beach. With Pete Murray headlining this year’s beachside concert, supported by Aussie Rock Pop sensations, Killing Heidi, along with NT Triple J unearthed winner, Resin Moon and young Territory artist, Isaac Smalley.

Come down early and enjoy the iconic Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, open all afternoon and evening, grab some food and find your perfect viewing spot to enjoy what will be another huge concert. And don’t forget the spectacular fireworks display to finish the show!


Plan your trip!

Make sure you plan your trip in advance as the car par at Mindil Beach is expected to fill early.  Overflow parking is available at Darwin High School Oval and Myilly Point (Old Hospital Site).

Alternatively, you can catch the bus. Parking is available in the city, with regular buses running to Mindil Beach for free. All Darwinbus services to Mindil Beach will be free to use from 3pm until midnight  Simply tell your bus driver that you are travelling to Mindil Beach to travel FREE of charge. The Darwin Territory Day celebrations are proudly brought to you by the Northern Territory Government in association with City of Darwin, Mindil Beach Sunset Markets and Surf Life Saving NT.

No personal fireworks are permitted within the exclusion zone (see map).  Police and City of Darwin Rangers will be patrolling the exclusion zone and those found possessing fireworks may face penalties.

Change to Traffic Conditions - Mindil Beach Saturday, 1 July

 The following road closures and diversions are in effect:

Gilruth Avenue
  • Outbound lane closed from Smith Street to Gardens Road (8:30 – 9:00pm)
  • Inbound lane closed from Goyder Road to Gardens Road (8:30 – 9:00pm)

 

Gardens Road
  • Outbound lane closed (4:00 to 9:00pm)

 

East Point Road
  • Inbound traffic diverted left along Goyder Road towards Stuart Highway (8:30 – 9:00pm)

 

Goyder Road 

  • No right turn into Goyder Road from Stuart Highway (8:30 – 9:00pm)

 

Car Parking Diversions 

  •  Old Darwin Hospital Carpark - existing traffic diverted to Mitchell Street
  • Casino diverted along Gilruth Avenue towards Smith Street
  • Mindil Beach Carpark (first third) - diverted along Gilruth Avenue, then left only along Chin Quan and then right along Gardens Road
  • Mindil Beach Carpark (middle third) - diverted out via Maria Liveris Drive, and then left at Gilruth Avenue signalised intersection and then right only along Goyder Road towards Stuart Highway
  • Mindil Beach Carpark (last third) & Darwin High School Carpark - diverted right along Atkins Drive and then left only on Goyder Road signalized intersection along East Point Road (8:30 – 9:00pm)
